Camp Alkulana was started in 1915 by the Richmond City Circle, the precursor to today’s Richmond Woman’s Missionary Union. Inspired by a call to meaningful Christian ministry in Richmond, Camp Alkulana began as a a small camping excursion for Richmond children. Today our Richmond Baptist churches and other partners continue to support the booming camp ministry in Bath County. There children and youth have the opportunity to get out of the city and explore the natural world in the Allegheny mountains and the beautiful George Washington forest.

Our summer camp program is the heart of our work; we believe a good camping program provides a ripe opportunity for life-changing experiences. Our aim is to provide a camp experience for campers who would not otherwise be able to afford it.  Each summer we serve approximately 200 campers, ages 9-14, in a traditional overnight summer camp setting.
