2017 Camp Alkulana Offering and Week of Prayer for Associational/Network Missions

2017 Camp Alkulana Offering

The annual offering for associational missions was first received in 1949 and was adopted as policy in 1953 by the RBA.  The purpose of that first special missions offering was to care for the expenses of Camp Alkulana which had been in operation since 1915.  Over the years the annual associational missions offering has been used in different ways to support various causes, but in 2006 the RBA Administrative Council decided to return to the original intent of this special mission offering -- that being to soley support our summer ministry and outreach to inner-city boys and girls and their families through Camp Alkulana.  The work of the River City Faith Network of the Richmond Baptist Association's three Baptist Centers at Church Hill, Oregon Hill and South Richmond is funded partially by the RCFN/RBA regular budget and through gifts given to the individual centers or gifts sent through your church or by sending it to 3111 Moss Side Ave., Richmond, VA 23222.

The goal for the 2017 Camp Alkulana Offering is $156,000.00. Because many churches have changed the way they emphasize mission outreach and how they receive offerings for mission causes, the River City Faith Network of the Richmond Baptist Association accepts contributions to the Camp Offering throughout the year.  Members of RCFN/RBA churches usually choose to contribute to the Offering through their churches.  An individual,  member or non-member of a RCFN/RBA church, is welcomed to contribute by sending your offering to 3111 Moss Side Ave., Richmond, VA 23222 or on-line using a credit or debit card.  Click here for the RCFN/RBA E-giving site.

A Message from Beth Wright, Camp Alkulana Director

Friends of Camp Alkulana,

Camp Alkulana’s unique ministry to low-income, at-risk youth is thriving— we are aiming to serve over 200 young people again this summer. Your gifts to the 2017 Camp Alkulana Offering will help keep the ministry and its impact strong!

The impact of your gifts from past years was clear in the feedback we heard from campers. One camper said, “I came from a place where I didn’t go to church as much as I should. Here I have Bible study every day.” Another said, “Camp is a place where I can get away from all my struggles, be myself, and not worry about what other people think of me. Camp is one of my favorite places and I really hope I can come back again next year!” Consider giving again to the offering this year, so that these campers and others like them can return for years to come.

Please partner with us to meet the challenge of this  offering goal! You can give through your church or as an individual by simply designating your financial gift to the Camp Alkulana Offering. The full amount of all gifts to the Camp Alkulana Offering will go specifically to Camp Alkulana’s operational and personnel costs.

For more information about the camp or to give online, please visit the camp website: www.alkulana.org.Thank you for your partnership in serving Richmond’s children!
